Back in action after a few weeks off

Hey Everyone,

After a few weeks away - the blog is back on the roll.

To start things off lightly, I just saw the cutest video on My.Arfie.com of a soldier returning from home to his dogs.

Check it out on My.Arfie.com as well at - http://my.arfie.com/profiles/blogs/great-video-of-dogs-greeting-a

Supreme Court - Does banning Graphic Animal Cruelty Videos Violate Free Speech

I think not.

Take a look at this article from CNN.com yesterday on a potential court battle over whether or not banning Graphic Animal Cruelty & Pet Abuse video violated our freedom of speech.

www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/04/20/scotus.pit.bull.videos/index.html?iref=newssearch

It turns out this all started when I sporting dog company posted ads in a popular sporting dog magazine that sold videos of Pit Bulls attacking farm pigs and other videos which I don't want to describe.

All animals deserve to live and die in the most humane way possible and while sometimes they suffer at our expense for food and meat products - they should at the very least protected from entertainment & sports killing.

Pet Social Site - My.Arfie.com & Dogpile Have a History of Helping Pets

I noticed a comment yesterday (my first) on my Ellen post regarding a new social site for dog lovers called My.Arfie.com.

A lot of bloggers don't give praise or interact with their audience in posts very often and I wanted to make a point that I'm listening and that others contributing to this site will be heard. So I decided to look into this one for fun and the site actually looks pretty cool.

There's cool groups for all pet breeds and you can start your own as well. LOTS of cute puppy pics and interesting characters from all around the US - but that's not why I'm posting this.

After doing a little research, I noticed the site was owned by the same people that own Dogpile.com (a search engine) and the character "Arfie" is actually a spin off of the site.

If you look around, Dogpile is well known for helping out pet charites, donating over $200,000 to the ASPCA this year alone and more last year. I've reached out to customer service for My.Arfie & Dogpile and I'm trying to figure out what their plans are for helping pets in this tough economy.

Once I hear back, I'll be sure to keep my followers in the know as if we can help dogs and other pets in need without pulling cash out of our own pocket - we should be.

Check out the sites for yourself - My.Arfie.com & Dogpile.com.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Bo-Bama - The New Third in Command

I'm sure you've all heard that Obama promised his little girls that he would by them a dog and finally he has, with the new Portuguese Water Dog, Bo Obama or my nick name for him Bo-Bama.

He's a cute dogs, although I would have liked to see our president support the cause by adopting - nonetheless this dog will be loved and there's something to say about a dog whose loved.

Ellen Helps out the Humane Society by Selling Clothes?

Did any of you hear about how Ellen is selling her clothes on Ebay and donating all the funds to the Humane Society of the United States?

This is just the kind of stuff that touches my heart to see. Of course, not all of us can afford to give away all our clothing.

I'm going to work on finding & posting ways to help pets in need in your local and National communties - with limited funds.

This economy is making it hard for all of us to help, but if theres more ways to help - I want to highlight them.

If you have any ideas, feel free to comment and I'll add it to my list.
